In the previous article we talked about basic laws or principles of singing, and today we will continue conversation about how to learn singing and offer to you the row of exercises with the help of which you will be able independently to put the voice in home terms.
I am professionally engaged in this question for a long time and taught a lot of people to this art, and I also see that this practice influences on their lives or rather on her improvement. I hope therefore, that this information will be useful for not only the beginning (or “continuing”) singers but also people who has to speak publicly or even simply to talk much and convincing.

Why the correct voice training is needed
[adrotate group=”1″]Many singing people often set by a question: is my voice put for me and as far as it is done correctly? And beginners simply ask why they need the correct voice training.
There is a great number of going near this question together with the variety of music styles and, accordingly, vocal. The voice training, in opinion of most specialists, can be academic, opera, vaudeville etc. How to define, do you sing correctly and do you have some voice training?
How to define is my voice put for me?
Initially, certainly to define whether your voice is put for you is possible on sounding. If your voice (not simply sounding of notes but your own timbre) flows freely and you are heard on the audience of mid-size – yes, you attained certain results in the area of singing (by your tireless labour, if you added some efforts to it, or by your natural data, when your muscles function correctly and you can well sing without the special efforts).
At the same time, it is not enough to listen some interval of your execution to define as far as your voice training is correct and is it in general (although, it is certainly enough for professionals).
An important factor that can help us on this heavy work is a health of your vocal apparatus, that is determined, for example, how many time you can sing without a stop (if two-hour concert – that is great for you!), whether does your voice move down after loading or can you in general to lose it.
If such problems and complications take place, it is possible to draw conclusion that your voice training is not all right, some muscles work wrong, there are clamps somewhere in a body from which it is necessary to be delivered.
Certainly, your natural timbre is an another significant element of the voice training. You can very often talk in one register but sing quite in other, and it is not always wrong. It is possible that your range is large enough, however you talk on the area, where it is more comfortable for you than all. Thus, when you are singing, your voice is not sounding impoverished.
[adrotate group=”2″]If it takes place vice versa, that is you talk the natural timbre in ordinary life and sing not your (impoverished) voice, your voice training is certainly wrong, as your natural data counts for nothing and it has very unpleasant consequences for your voice.
The conclusion we did in the previous article follows, that singing and speech is very close concepts.
Acquisition of skill of vocal support
So, the voice training is begun with a search and finding of skill of vocal support and correct work of muscles of musculoskeletal and articulatory apparatus (tongue, palate, muscles of face and etc). These groups of muscles, in a difference from some another (for example, internal) muscles, lend themselves to training.
Before I will give to you the list of necessary exercises, which, by the way, are not closed (you can looking for yourself the best variants of training the development of vocal muscles), we will consider the concepts of support and work of articulation in more detail.
Vocal support. Let`s begin, perhaps, from the main. For the voice sounds correctly and our copulas close up painlessly, it is necessary to prop up air correctly. Figuratively speaking, it is needed to create an air post that will “prop” up copulas.
Correct way of breathing for singing
The beginning of post, as we feel, must be in a stomach – that is why the correct breathing to sing (and in general life) is the breathing by a stomach. Notice, as our children breathe or, for example, as a man breathes, when sleeps.
This implies, that it is needed to learn correctly to breathe in beginning of the voice training for singing in home terms. Singing inhalation does not differ from natural (the breathing by a stomach), however exhalation at singing almost does not such as in life. The phase of exhalation is much longer here, when as in an ordinary situation it is equal in duration the phase of inhalation.
[adrotate group=”3″]Exactly, singing support is built on an even optimal air flow. It is needed an active work of muscles of press, back (lumbar department), neck others to our voice leaned correctly. This group of muscles must be trained. The trained muscles must be in tone during singing – neither jammed nor relaxed (we talked about it in our first article).
Such skill of free work of muscles is needed for those woe-singers, who, in the search of support, clamp the muscles of press, neck, that creates tension and voice stops to flow freely and can even move down. So, how can we independently learn to prop up the voice?
Exercises for vocal support
Rocking a press (slow getting up of body, feet, slat). Do this to the tiredness of muscles.
Rocking a back (slat, getting up of corps lying on a stomach and fastening hands after a head). Do this to the tiredness of muscles.
Exercises for anchoring of neck (lie down on a back, heave up a neck in parallel to the floor, watch after a chin that it did not ride up) do 2 approaches. Do this to the tiredness of muscles.
These and other exercises (there are a lot of them) need to be done with periodicity one time in 1-2 days, gradually increasing time of implementation of exercises. A couple of words about how to feel support of voice during implementation of physical exercises: your voice will be proped up in the correct pose of slat. Slat is very similar with the pose of push-up.
It is important here to pay attention to even back, absence of bending of small of the back and the neck, heaved up at the same level. In such position it is necessary sing the fragments of song. Since you will get up, try muscularly to repeat feeling of slat. If your muscles of stomach, back, necks are in tone (they are warmed-up and function freely), begin to train breathing.
Exercise for training the breathing for singing
Breathing. Do natural inhalation by a stomach and slow even exhalation on some sound (for example, o, u) and in a comfortable for you range. It is better not to overstrain breathing doing such exercises in home terms. Proceed within a reasonable.
How to develop articulatory muscles for the voice and singing training
Work of articulatory apparatus. Perhaps, there will be those who would not call the work of this group of muscles, as necessary for the voice and singing training, however I want to say that without the correct functioning of articulatory apparatus all our support and sounding of voice will dwindle into nothing, as a transmission of sound takes place mostly due to articulatory muscles.
We will attribute the most basic to them – muscles of tongue, palate, jaw, “mask” (that is muscles of face due to which we smile). Correct work of articulation will assist the hit of sound in resonators, to adjusting of frequencies of sound, not to mention about the base producing of sound by atongue and another muscles. How to train them? [adrotate group=”4″]
Exercise for training of articulation at home
A tongue – rapid motions from side toside, tooth brush – hold the teeth in a circle; chants and tongue-twisters (only slowly) with a tongue outside (or to middle part of tongue, when a tag abuts against lower teeth) etc. Work to the tiredness of muscles. Main skill that must be purchased is to lift the root of language, in order that it was not heaped up, and there was the correct producing of sound.
Smile. Lift the muscles of the face and hold to exhaustion. After rest we repeat exercise with a descended jaw, tongue outside (its middle part).
Jaw – we work off freedom of motion of the descended jaw, a bit moving by it in an order to clean a possible clamp.
General tone of muscles of person and emotional limbering-up – writhe ugly faces, while muscles will not get tired. We will remind you once more, that the law of two twenty-four hours is similarly applicable in this case – practicing is needed at most rarely in a day in an order not to lose necessary to you skills.
Last thing, what I would be desirable to talk about in this article, it is searching (for those, who lost) of the own timbre.
[adrotate group=”5″]As we have already talked higher and more in details – in the article about how to learn to sing from the ground up (which you are better to read if you has not done it yet) : to begin to put your voice in home terms you must from your speech.
Training the voice with a timbre is possible on a comfortable range singing or more precisely – saying a simple melody on notes and checking sounding of voice (overtones) for conversation.
Watch for yourself and your muscles
Summarizing, we want to remind you about importance of the permanent watching for your physical condition, in order to shut out clamps or, vice versa, languid muscles.
